Hi Jenny, one of my friends on Facebook had a homebirth after 3 cesareans today. I’m so happy for her! Maybe we’re getting somewhere.
This is my 2nd birth, and 2nd home water birth, I am blessed to have suffered no birth trauma.
Our daughter was very well prepared for the birth with story books about homebirth and lots of conversations about birth. My younger sister was her support person and spent the whole day with her. They share a close bond and I knew she would be safe with someone who loved her, which was helpful because it meant I didn’t have to worry about my daughter’s needs being met (food, water, comfort, sleep, toiletting etc.)
My primary midwife was unable to attend the birth. The midwife who is in the pictures is my backup, who I met 4 days before birthing. I felt very comfortable with her because several friends have birthed with her and shared their stories, and because she shares a similar philosophy to my primary midwife (who was my midwife for my daughter’s birth). I have never had a VE and have never been told what to do while labouring.
I’m really pleased our pictures are being used in this way. Thank you.
This is my dream, Kimberley. . . that one day all women will start off well with their first birth. Thanks for sharing these precious intimate moments in order to make a difference for others. Gloria
